Know the Roof Before You Knock on the Door

Every project starts with the same open question: how big is this roof, and how steep is it? Until you get eyes on it, or order a report, you're working with a guess.

Now, every OneClick project now shows an estimated roof size and pitch automatically, right in the Quickview section, for every property type, nationwide, powered by Google Solar API.

 

What it shows you

Two numbers: roof size, measured in squares (one square equals 100 square feet), and predominant pitch, written the way roofers already talk about it, like 6/12 or 8/12.

Both are pulled from satellite imagery using Google's Solar API, the same data behind Google Maps' solar estimates. There's no order to place and no wait. It's tagged as a beta feature, so it's clear these are estimates rather than field measurements, and if a property doesn't have usable imagery yet, you'll see a dash instead of a guess.

Why it's useful

For contractors, this means you can size up a lead before the first phone call. A 12-square roof and a 45-square roof with multiple pitches are very different conversations, and now you know which one you're walking into. That helps you prioritize which leads to chase first and sound more prepared on that first homeowner call.

For carriers, it means roof complexity is visible before an adjuster is even assigned. A large, steep roof might call for someone with specific experience or extra time in the schedule; a small, simple one can likely move through faster. It's an early signal that helps with routing and triage, not a substitute for the assignment process itself.

Either way, it's the same work you already do, just earlier and with better information going in.

What it isn't

This isn't a replacement for an inspection-grade measurement report. If you're ordering materials, finalizing an estimate, or need exact dimensions signed off, you still want a precision report with individual facets and waste calculations.

Use this as the first read on a property, the thing that tells you whether it's worth a closer look. The closer look still comes from the tools built for that.
